The FOOHP 2012 Online Application is now live!

RENEW NOW (for 2012)!

Renewing members have until February 29, 2012 to complete the renewal process. You may continue using the Park using your 2011 tag(s) until then, after which you should cease using the Park until you complete your online application and get your 2012 tag(s)).

Reminder orientation sessions are only required of new members, not renewing members (assuming you previously attended an orientation; if not, you must attend an orientation session).

To renew your membership for 2012, you must complete two easy steps:

1. Online Application. Login and complete the online application.  If this is the first time you are logging in to access your FOOHP account online, you will be given directions to create a User ID and Password.   Once logged in, you only need to review your current membership information, and make updates/corrections as needed – there is no need to re-enter any information that has not changed!.
2. Pick Up Your 2012 Tag(s).  After completing the online application, you need to pick up your 2012 FOOHP dog tag(s) before February 29, 2012 to complete the renewal process.  Tags will be distributed at the NLNA Community Center, located at the corner of N. 3rd Street and Fairmount Avenue, on the following dates/times:

• Thursdays (except 1/19) from 10am-1pm
• Thurs. 1/19/2012, from 5pm-6:30pm
• Sun. 1/29/2012, from 11am-1pm
• Sun. 2/12/2012, from 2-4pm
• Weds. 2/29/2012, from 5:30-7:30pm

1. If you are renewing on or after March 1, 2012, please arrange to pick up your tag(s) by contacting Board Vice President Anne Waginger at awaginger@aol.com, or the Board Secretary Eman Abouelseoud at FOOHP2010@gmail.com. On and after March 1, 2012, you must wait until you secure your 2012 tag(s) before using the Park.

If you lose your tag during the course of the year, there is a $5.00 replacement fee (per tag). To request a replacement tag, please email FOOHP2010@gmail.com.

If you need to make any changes to your membership information during the course of the year (including updating your contact information or adding or deleting a dog), you can log into your membership profile online and make updates there. Just click the “Member Login” link on our website, where you’ll find information on how to create a User ID and Password, or to retrieve either if you’ve forgotten them.

Finally, remember that each of us is responsible for the success of the Park and for making sure the Park rules are followed. If you see another member who is not following the FOOHP Dog Park Rules, please kindly remind the member.

Recycle Your Holiday Tree Saturday
*Please note that this year’s tree recycling will take place at Liberty Lands*
10AM – 4PM, at Liberty Lands

The City does not recycle trees left at curbside – so keep them out of the landfill by recycling them with the NLNA! Just bring your tree – cleaned of decorations – to Liberty Lands this Saturday, January 7, anytime between 10AM and 4PM. No early drop-offs, please – sorry!

A $5 donation is requested to help defray the cost of the wood chipping.

Since we are nearing the end of 2011, we are waiving the $50 donation required for voting rights.  Membership and voting rights last for the calendar year and will thus expire at the end of December.  All members are encouraged to renew and donate for the 2012 year as soon as that application becomes available.  2012 is also an election year, so all voting members will have an opportunity to run and vote for board positions.  If you have any questions, please contact me at Foohp2010@gmail.com

HOUND-O-WEEN: October 29, 2011: Join us Saturday, October 29, 2011, from 1:00-3:00 pm (judging at 2:00pm) for the Dog Park’s annual Hound-o-ween party! Bring your pup in a creative costume, and enjoy hanging out with fellow dog park members – there will be games, refreshments, and prizes for the best-costumed hounds and their people.   Its always a fun afternoon.   Registered (tag-wearing) members only, please. Please make sure to take note that JUDGING WILL BE at 2pm.

b.      Qualifications: (1) You must be a dues paying member to serve on the board (check with me if you are not sure of your dues status); (2) You must be available to meet monthly with the Board (meetings are currently the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm–our next meeting will be on November 10, 2011); (3) You must be available to make decisions/consult re: issues between monthly meetings by email; (4) You must be willing to serve out the remainder of the term, through April 2012.

3. Please Beware: Dog Attack: A few weeks ago, I received a report of an incident involving a man, a 30 year resident of the neighborhood,  who was  the victim of an unprovoked attack by a leashed pit bull being walked by its owner (a woman).  The attack occurred while the man walked along Fairmount St toward 3rd–near the 3rd St playground.  The dog leapt off the leash towards the man and bit him on his forearm.  He is doing well.  The woman and her dog live at 7th and Fairmount Sts.  The dog is white with brown patches around the eyes and around 60 lbs.  Please be mindful of this dog.

4. NLNA Listserve: There are many neighborhood events taking place that we thought you might be interested in, especially an e-waste collection day at the No. Libs. Community Center on Saturday, Nov. 5. They will be collecting anything that plugs in, with the exception of large appliances. There is a very minimal collection fee but this is a chance to get rid of those toasters, blenders, window air conditioners, that haven’t been working for you. We will not make a habit of sending you these notices so if you’re interested in being on the neighborhood list serve just e-mail matt@nlna.org to be added. · Thursday Oct 20, 3-5PM: Restored Spaces Dedication at Bodine High School, 4th & George. Check out the completed mural done by the Mural Arts program, and the greening of our award-winning neighborhood high school.
· Saturday, Oct 22, 10AM-3PM: Kearny School Fall Festival, 6th & Fairmount. Check out a flea market, face painting, family activities and more, at our neighborhood’s K-8 school. Proceeds benefit the school.
· Thursday, Oct 27, 7PM: NLNA October General Membership Meeting. Get updates on I-95, Spring Garden, security cameras, a proposed change to the NLNA Bylaws, and more.
· Saturday, Nov 5, 10AM-2PM: NLNA e-Waste Recycling, NL Community Center, 3rd & Fairmount. Start saving up all your old electronics – this incredibly popular event is coming back!
· Sunday, Oct 30: Annual Liberty Lands Halloween/Fall Festival. Come out to this very popular event, featuring Halloween and other family related activities.

2. Found: A black CD case holding approximately 60 CDs was recently found at the park.  If it belongs to anyone please contact FOOHP President Jack Cassidy at 856-261-7028 to claim it.

3. Thank you! The Board would like to thank park member, Kurt Bonk (Copper’s dad), for fixing our water pump, which had been an issue for some time.  We are very appreciative of the time and effort he took in repairing this problem.

He is at Chez Bow Wow on Liberties Walk – anyone with information can contact Gwen at 215-923-2992, or chezbowwow@verizon.net.
